Churches United For Fair Housing & Local Union #3 Host
A Holiday Party for 300 underprivileged kids from
Bushwick, Williamsburg & Bed-Stuy Brooklyn
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
On Sunday December 5th, 2010 Churches United For Fair Housing (CUFFH) with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local Union #3 “A” Apprentices hosted a Holiday party for 300 kids between the ages of 6-13 years old.
We been involved with the Holiday Party Trip for a few years now and it started with just 50 kids from Williamsburg and grew to over 300 from Williamsburg, Bushwick & Bed-Stuy. For most kids this is the only Holiday gifts they received. This year a kid wrote in the arts in craft section “Best Day Ever”, it’s just a great feeling to read that and to give back to our community in this way, said Rob Solano , Executive Director of Churches United For Fair Housing.
CUFFH organized the kids through its Churches in Bushwick, Williamsburg & Bed-Stuy. The event consisted of games, DJ music, dance contest, arts & crafts, food, a visit from Sponge Bob Square Pants, Santa Clause and most of all a free wrapped present for each Child. The Event was held at Local 3’s Auditorium in Flushing, Queens. It took 2 days and more then a 100 Local 3 volunteers to set up the auditorium from a meeting space to a winter wonderland. On Sunday Morning December 5th buses departed from several locations throughout North Brooklyn at 10am. The kids return safely back at 6pm.
